Plenty of good scares. ...Yeah, it's a decent flick. Plenty of good scares. The claustrophobic 'Go! Go! Go!' scene was the best where the small crevice they were crawling through started falling. Good, good stuff. The monsters are kinda week sauce, though. I mean, they kinda make sense, but everytime I looked at one I thought of some poor NCSA drama student donning a latex monster suit to show his acting prowess... their movements were just so big - too big. Small gripe. Still, HB and I were scared for most of the latter part of the movie. I didn't like the characters too much, probably because the acting bothered me in places. None of that 'we're just girls having a party in a cabin' crap seemed real to me. I hate it when an actor cannot look at the Director and say, 'I'm just not feeling these lines are natural' - or hell, the Director should see how forced and horrible the line readings are and get them to change them.

I have to think of that line in American Beauty where the supposed to be 'frumpy' Jane Burnham looks into her boyfriend's camcorder and says, "I need a father who's a role model, not some horny geek-boy who's gonna spray his shorts every time I bring a girlfriend home from school." That has to be one of the worst line readings of all time. The actress seems like she doesn't actually comprehend the words she's saying. It's just aweful. And, they show it twice in the movie, right? Once at the beginning and once at the end? Anyhow...

The Descent is fun, Crane - you are right, sir. And, I dug the Carrie moments.blankfisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01495143271397023056noreply@blogger.com
