Strep is caused by Streptococc...Glad you're better. Strep is caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. It often lives in your throat for a while without causing infection, but is an opportunistic pathogen that takes seat and causes actual infection when your immune system is distracted by some other stress, often viral. Just thought you might like to know. Oddly enough, it is one of very few diseases that can be repeatedly passed back and forth between children and dogs.
