We've been getting some good teasers of late for next year's releases and today brings what may be the best of the lot. The teaser for Superman Returns. This thing is fantastic. I watched it four times -- the not what you'd expect John Williams score and the narration by Marlon Brando as Ja-Rel, really good, stirring stuff. I'm excited to see it. Click on 'full-screen' for the full effect, it doesn't take that long to download. If Warner Bros. keeps this up, not only will they have two renewed DC Comics franchises up and running with Batman and Superman, they'll have set the stage for that Batman Vs. Superman movie Wolfgang Petersen was once all set to direct. Allah knows there's plenty of material from the comics to draw from for that movie. Yeah, I know, I'm a dork. The teaser was awesome, but I'm not convinced on the Routh fellow. He look a total meathead tool in that photo you posted of him as Clark Kent.

Yeah, I'm not feeling the new guy they got to play superman. He looks like he'd be comfortable singing for some Emo band. Not sure if that's the superman for me. That's right, I capitolized 'Emo' and not 'superman'. Yep. That's how we roll up in the hood, y'all.
The trailer is really quite good, though. The tone is just right. It feels right in place with this type of genre, and that's a rare thing these days. Marlon Brando sounds perfect as [ahem] Jor-El, almost timeless. This movie should be great, even if I think they dropped the ball on picking superman.
Yeah to Singer for not being a fanboy but bringing some of the finest comic book movies to date. Rock.
