Sad News

Word is coming down the wire right now that actor Heath Ledger has died.

These are very preliminary reports that don't speak to the circumstances surrounding his death, so there's a chance they're not true, but if they are, this is a real tragedy. The guy's a great actor and the early footage of his work in the upcoming "Dark Knight" looked good enough to put him even more securely onto the A-list of Hollywood talent.

Ledger was 28 years old.

[Late Update: The New York Times has more information, including how Ledger was found, and a clue as to the sad cause of death. How depressing.]

Gawker.com is reporting (for what that's worth) that the cause of death was an overdose. Officially, though, there is no word on cause of death.

Dude, I really liked Heath Ledger. Very terrible news (like Brad Renfro). What is up with Hollywood man?

I must say, it can be a very depressing place.

Very unfortunate indeed. I never thought much about Ledger one way or another until I saw him in MONSTER'S BALL. He was probably just beginning to show what he was capable of with a good script and good director. As for asking "what's up with Hollywood?", well I believe Ledger spent most of his time in NYC. Extra depressing that he's leaving a young child behind...

I'm sure you'll have another post about the Oscar nominations later, but when you do don't forget one thing: ZODIAC was robbed. Completely and utterly robbed of a single, solitary nomination. Shame.

This news made me sad.

I wonder what insurance the studios had on him for Batman completion and the other thing he was filming.

Hints of Brandon Lee are brought back to me.
The Crow will forever be part of my film growth, and I expect Dark Knight as well.

I think this is the second person to die during this film.

What is this? TMZ? Or is this a blog? Silly Crane and his celebrity news. I liked Ledger a lot ever since Brokeback. It's tragic.

Oh, dude, I saw Cloverfield the other night. Not bad. Good stuff. Very fun. I also saw There Will Be Blood and Daniel Day-Lewis was freaking amazing. You've got to get to the theaters to see this movie, Crane.

Well, Warner released a Dark Knight spoiler:

They were smart and didn't kill the joker. He was signed on to reprise the role in the next sequel.

So, now what. Casting ideas anyone?

Casting ideas? Nah. I say they just Weekend at Bernie's that film shoot, if you ask me.

Crane, I just wanted you to know. I started reading your novel yesterday, and I got to about page 50 something or another, and the only reason I stopped was because the girlfriend came home (and you know how distracting they can be with their vagina monologues and bra burnings). I have to say, it's freaking good. I already know somewhat the story from the last time I read book one, but this is some great writing, dude! I'm enthralled. I'm about to start another reading marathon right now until the woman comes home with her menstruation and hormones and what have you.

Congratulations, Crane. I'm quite enjoying this. You know what would make it better, though? Abolishing Women's Suffrage. Yeah, just being out-and-out sexist for no reason, here. Though, I can't believe we let them drive... and vote?! Great book so far, though. I'm excited to get back into it.

Thanks for all the nice compliments dude. I'm hyped you're enjoying it. Please feel free to continue singing the book's praises on the blog. Until, of course, you don't want to sing them anymore -- then you can just tell me in an email.

I think he should actually sing them and post it on youtube or someplace so I can hear it. Just a thought.

Women are so cute when they get all uppity trying to use the internet and giving opinions and what not. Now that you've had your fun, those dishes in the kitchen ain't gonna clean themselves, are they?

Thats what striking screenwriters are for. I have more important things to do, like gossip about my coworker who got arrested at work today for prescription drug theft.

To be clear, I usually am the one who washes the dishes strike or no-strike.

The strike really has had no impact on my dishwashing abilities.

Heard some guy on the street (a bum)talking about this today, but the way he understood it, "a rock star by the name of Keith Legend died, they're sayin' it's drugs."

Keith Legend. He was the best of us.
